Plume raises US$270mn new financing to fuel faster growth

Plume, creator of the SaaS experience platform for Communications Service Providers (CSPs) and their subscribers, has closed a $270 million (€222.40 million) minority investment from global venture capital and private equity firm Insight Partners. This Series E round at a $1.35 billion (€1.11 billion)valuation brings Plume’s total equity funding to $397 million (€327.01 million).  (more…)

Digital infrastructure company, Equinix, Inc., has been selected as a strategic supplier for Nokia’s Worldwide IoT Network Grid (WING) managed service, in a collaboration to bring next-generation edge architectures and services to market. In light of the current pandemic, global technology market advisory firm ABI Research estimates that Connected Home devices could see a 30% year-on-year sales surge in the coming months. Not only this, says Daniel Egger, Axiros GmbH and Project Stream Lead for Broadband User Services (BUS) Data Modeling Project Stream, smart home devices are expected to overtake smartphones by 2021, with the number of Internet of Things (IoT) devices predicted to reach more than 50 billion devices, according to Strategy analytics. amdocs:next, the business unit of Amdocs that focuses on broadband and home connectivity, has unveiled new consumer hardware for the first time in the form of doxi, a smart home router. This doesn’t mean Amdocs is becoming a consumer hardware manufacturer but that it has focused on turning the domestic router from a misunderstood, complex and easily ignored device into an simple to use hub of the digital home, writes George Malim.
