Nokia launches in France the 5G Innov Lab platform to test and integrate future 5G use cases

Paris, France. 21 June 2022 – Nokia has announced the launch of the 5G Innov Lab platform as part of the France Recovery plan. The Nokia-led platform has the objective of testing and integrating 5G industrial uses, using an open and transversal approach; and brings together various entities, including Airbus Secure Land Communications, Augmented Acoustics, Digital Immersion, IMT, SNEF Lab, Nokia Bell Labs, and Paris-Saclay Hardware Accelerator.

UScellular and Ericsson team up on drone connectivity to test 5G network performance at altitude

22 June 2022 – Initial visual line of sight trials were conducted in Beloit, Wis., using a drone that was flown between two of UScellular’s commercial 5G towers. The drone was outfitted with a 5G smartphone and RF measurement equipment designed to capture performance metrics such as signal strength and quality, upload and download speeds, and latency throughout the flights at various altitudes. Data was gathered using both low and high band spectrum, and the goal of the initial trial was to gather and analyse network connectivity and speed data in the air, compare it to the speeds experienced on the ground and ultimately understand what is required for the future use and success of 5G connected drones.

Paris, France. 22 June 2022 – Capgemini and Orange confirmed that Bleu, their future joint venture that will provide trusted cloud (“Cloud de Confiance”) services to address the needs of specific French organisations, is expected to start supporting clients in preparing for their migration by the end of 2022 (date being subject to regulatory approvals). Bleu’s services, including Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365, will be operational in 2024.

Quectel wireless solutions has launched the new BG773A-GL ultra-compact LTE Cat M1, NB1 and NB2 module which offers integrated SIM (iSIM) support. The iSIM capability of this new module provides huge flexibility and simplicity for integrators and IoT service providers because, in essence, it enables a device with a single stock keeping unit (SKU) number to have the right connectivity to support its needs globally.
