A new report from Kaleido Intelligence, a connectivity market intelligence and consulting firm, has found that after a slow start private 5G will accelerate in the coming years. These networks are expected to reach nearly 19,000 active installations by 2028, exhibiting a remarkable compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 115% starting from 2023.
New findingsfrom roaming personnels at Kaleido Intelligence highlight a substantial rise in VoLTE (voice over long-term evolution) roaming for global mobile operators. A noteworthy 81% have elevated its priority compared to previous years, while 15% consider transitioning to VoLTE roaming a vital operational focus in 2023. These survey results reflect a favourable industry trend, as mobile operators progressively acknowledge and prioritise VoLTE roaming in their operational strategies.

New research byKaleido Intelligence predicts that operators will see retail roaming revenues from consumer and IoT mobile connections approach US$33 billion by 2028. This surge will be fuelled by a complete recovery in travel and increased consumer roaming usage across key markets. Furthermore, Kaleido forecasts an eight-fold increase in 5G consumer roaming connections between 2024 and 2028, contributing to an estimated 70% average annual growth in retail revenues. “Retail roaming set to hit $33B by 2028”
New findings from Kaleido Intelligence predict that international travel trips will exceed pre-pandemic levels in 2024, marking a 3% increase from 2019 and surpassing 2 billion for the second time ever. Outbound travel recovery from China has been slow in 2023 and is expected to take another 12-18 months to return to pre-pandemic levels.
