EBRD joins Actis consortium for Western Balkans mobile towers

As part of its drive to support digital transition in the Western Balkans, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has joined a consortium of international investors led by Actis. The consortium, including the International Finance Corporation (IFC), will acquire approximately 1,800 mobile towers from Serbian state-owned telecoms operator Telekom Srbija that are spread across Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Serbia. “EBRD joins Actis consortium for Western Balkans mobile towers”

Ncell Axiata deploys 338 mobile towers, expands network coverage across Nepal

Ncell Axiata Limited has installed 338 new base transceiver stations (BTS), expanding service footprints to new locations further improving the quality of service (QoS) in different parts of the country. The mobile towers were installed as part of the company’s service expansion and improvement drive in the last fiscal year 2022/23.

Freshwave to bring connectivity from all four mobile operators to residential towers in UK

Freshwave is working with R&F Properties UK to bring mobile connectivity from all four operators to One Nine Elms. This luxury residential-led development has two towers rising 42 and 57 storeys high which are linked together by a glazed bridge. Freshwave will connect both towers at One Nine Elms via a distributed antenna system (DAS) which will provide assured connectivity from basement to rooftop for everyone in the buildings.

Ooredoo, Zain, TASC Towers to create independent tower company in MENA region

ORDS announced that Ooredoo Group has entered negotiations with mobile telecommunications company K.S.C.P. (Zain Group) and UAE based TASC Towers Holding. The plan is to combine approximately 30,000 telecommunication tower assets in Qatar, Kuwait, Algeria, Tunisia, Iraq, and Jordan into a jointly owned independent tower company in a cash and share deal.

Telefonica, Ericsson, O2 Telefonica, Vantage Towers collaborate to develop 5G infrastructure in Germany

Deutsche Bahn (DB), network equipment supplier Ericsson, telecommunications provider OTelefonica and cell tower operator Vantage Towers are working together to develop a solution that would establish an extensive 5G mobile communications infrastructure along train tracks in Germany. The new infrastructure will give train passengers gigabit speeds for their telephone and data connections and provide high-performance transmission technology for further digitalising rail operations. Today the partners received the official word from the German Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) that they will receive funding to test innovative technology for mobile communications coverage along tracks.

EQT Infrastructure secures 60% stake from Wind Tre to operate mobile, fixed network infrastructure

EQT announced that EQT Infrastructure VI fund has signed an agreement to acquire a 60% stake in a newly created entity, which will own and operate Wind Tre‘s mobile and fixed network infrastructure. Wind Tre’s current owner, CK Hutchison, will remain invested alongside EQT Infrastructure and own a 40% stake in the company. The transaction gives the new company an enterprise value of EUR 3.4 billion.
