Ncell Axiata Limited has installed 338 new base transceiver stations (BTS), expanding service footprints to new locations further improving the quality of service (QoS) in different parts of the country. The mobile towers were installed as part of the company’s service expansion and improvement drive in the last fiscal year 2022/23.

The new locations where the service has been expanded to enable people to benefit from access to 4G services include 55 rural and remote areas from the mountain, hilly, and terai regions. Such places include the villages of Uttargaya Rural Municipality (Rasuwa), Thantikandh Rural Municipality (Dailekh), Durgathali Rural Municipality (Bajhang), Jantedhunga Rural Municipality (Khotang), and previously uncovered areas of Inaruwa Municipality (Siraha).

Similarly, during the last fiscal year, Ncell installed 283 new towers to enhance the QoS and customer experience. These mobile towers were built in over 50 districts of the seven provinces. Most of the sites were built in Lumbini Province, Sudurpaschim Province, Koshi Province, and Madhesh Province, among others.

Jabbor Kayumov, chief executive officer and managing director of Ncell says, “One of the most important aspects for Ncell is to build an efficient telecommunications network across Nepal. We have connected remote and rural villages by expanding our network to ensure access to basic mobile as well as high-speed mobile broadband connectivity, contributing to the vision of Digital Nepal. We are constantly working towards our goals of connecting every Nepali through our network, providing high-quality modern services to consistently create better value for customers and partners.”

In the last fiscal year, Ncell also upgraded nearly 1,450 sites in over 60 districts of the country, enhancing the 4G capacity. Out of the total upgrades, more than 780 sites were upgraded in municipalities, and over 440 sites were upgraded in rural municipalities. Similarly, Ncell had also upgraded the capacity of sites in metropolitan cities and sub-metropolitan cities to provide quality services to customers.

Ncell currently operates over 4,000 4G BTS sites across the country for ensuring access to high-speed mobile internet and voice over long term evolution (VoLTE) service. The expansion and capacity enhancement of the 4G network contributes to achieving the aspirations of the Digital Nepal Framework of the government by increasing access to mobile broadband service.
