Freshwave to bring connectivity from all four mobile operators to residential towers in UK

Brendan Hourihane of Freshwave

Freshwave is working with R&F Properties UK to bring mobile connectivity from all four operators to One Nine Elms. This luxury residential-led development has two towers rising 42 and 57 storeys high which are linked together by a glazed bridge. Freshwave will connect both towers at One Nine Elms via a distributed antenna system (DAS) which will provide assured connectivity from basement to rooftop for everyone in the buildings.

In a UK for residential buildings, the lifts will enjoy dedicated connectivity from all four mobile network operators. No matter where people enter the buildings, whether below ground or lobby level, they will be able to continue their calls uninterrupted until they reach their destination inside thanks to technology installed in the lifts themselves. The DAS will provide 4G connectivity immediately as well as an upgrade path to 5G and beyond for technologies in the future. Freshwave will also provide the ongoing managed service.

One Nine Elms comprises two iconic towers: the 57-story River Park Tower, featuring 391 modern apartments, and the distinct 42-story Park Hyatt London River Thames Residences, housing 103 branded residences managed by the UK’s first Park Hyatt Hotel. Both towers will enjoy assured connectivity from all four operators, including throughout the 5-star Park Hyatt Hotel in public areas, guest rooms and the hotel’s back-of-house and operations spaces.

Sungchul Yoon, commercial director at R&F Properties UK, says, “We see superior connectivity as a standard requirement in our developments and so we were happy to partner with Freshwave as they have an incredible track record for delivering not only what they say they will, but for developing innovative firsts. Connectivity is going to enable things in the future that we can only dream of today and I wanted to ensure that R&F Properties UK remain at the forefront of digitally enabled services. I’m excited that everyone at One Nine Elms will be able to enjoy connectivity wherever they are, whether that’s the lower levels, their landmark apartments and hotel rooms, or the lifts that get them in between.”

Brendan Hourihane, senior director at Freshwave, says, “We’re thrilled to be working with R&F Properties UK and look forward to marking another UK first with our lift solution. This project has been several years in the making and it’s always great when a developer understands the importance of mobile connectivity and engages with us from the early stages of the project. Luxury residential deployments are uniquely challenging from a radio frequency perspective as there’s a delicate balance to strike between the most effective tech deployment while also meeting the aesthetic demands of a high spec environment. We’re pleased to be bringing connectivity for all four operators to this prestigious London address.”

A variety of internationally recognised companies have worked on the project including Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates, Dexter Moren Associates, Gillespies, LDA Design, 1508 London, Super Potato, JLL and Multiplex.

Apartments in Park Hyatt London River Thames Residences will be available to buy in summer 2023, with the residents set to move in at the end of summer. Park Hyatt London River Thames Hotel is scheduled to open in the first half of 2024.
