1NCE, the only provider of connectivity and software for IoT at a global flat rate, announced at Embedded World Nuremberg a significant expansion of its global IoT network coverage. The company has doubled its footprint of Narrowband-IoT (NB-IoT) coverage and now has NB-IoT coverage maps, available at a single price worldwide.
California, USA, and Luxembourg, Europe, 3 March 2022 – Alif Semiconductor, a global provider of microcontrollers and fusion processors, and IoT satellite operator OQ Technology have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to collaborate on a narrowband internet-of-things (NB-IoT) solution for hybrid terrestrial satellite networking. Alifs fingertip sized, highly integrated cellular enabled IoT devices will allow users to roam freely between mobile networks on the ground and OQ’s IoT satellite constellation anywhere in the world.
Japan’s telco, NTT DoCoMo, shut down its NarrowBand-IoT (NB-IoT) network on March 31st. Coming barely a year after NTT’s services were launched, Jeremy Cowan editorial director of VanillaPlus turned to industry watchers for their views on the decision and what lies ahead for NB-IoT. “Killed off by NTT DoCoMo: NB-IoT still kicking globally, but for how long?”
Nordic Semiconductor claims that, in conjunction with iBasis, a provider of communications solutions for operators and digital players worldwide, it has completely invalidated any question marks over cellular IoT and eSIM technology used in NB-IoT and LTE-M Low Power Wide-Area (LPWA) use cases. This follows reports of successful field-testing across 30 countries using a single eSIM from iBasis.“iBasis and Nordic ‘remove question marks on eSIM NB-IoT and LTE-M’ tech with successful field-testing in 24 countries”
Ericsson and Telstra have successfully deployed and tested Narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT) data connections up to 100km from a base-station in Telstra’s commercial network. This is said to be the longest-range NB-IoT connection of its kind,
More than 10 billion devices will be connected to low power IoT networks over the next decade. Emerging Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWANs) are being deployed around the world, using both licensed and unlicensed spectrum by a number of key players in the communications industry to connect devices to the internet and get value from the data they produce, writes Dr David Pugh, a technology analyst at IDTechEX. “Sigfox vs LoRaWAN vs NB-IoT – a US$40bn arms race”
ZTE Corporation, has announced that, with the Guangdong branch of China Mobile (Guangdong Mobile), it has successfully accomplished China Mobile’s first NarrowBand IoT (NB-IoT) field test in Guangzhou. “ZTE successful in first NB-IoT field test by Guangdong Mobile”
