(more…)Samsung Electronics and SK Telecom (SKT) announced they have successfully completed the industry’s first 5G-4G SA Option 4 (NE-DC, New Radio–E-UTRAN Dual Connectivity) trial in SKT’s 5G Standalone (5G SA) commercial network. SA Option 4 is a dual connectivity technology that connects both 5G and 4G radios to a 5G Core in advanced 5G SA mode, enabling operators to increase reliability and maximise their current network resources.

(more…)Seoul, Korea. 24 January 2022 – Nokia and SK Telecom have successfully completed a proof-of-concept (PoC) and demonstration of the 5G 64TRX wireless-based cloud Radio Access Network (vRAN) in Korea. The trial highlighted Nokia’s technological leadership in wireless network architecture. Both companies plan to start field testing a vRAN in 2022.

Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA), the worldwide industry body dedicated to improving Wi-Fi services and standards, has concluded five trial deployments of Wi-Fi 6 across diverse markets. The deployments show that Wi-Fi 6, with wider channels up to 160 MHz, and capacity up to 9.6 Gbps (compared to 3.5 Gbps in Wi-Fi 5), can enable nearly three times faster gigabit data rates. (more…)
