Bank Rakyat announced its transition into a new phase of digital banking, supported by CelcomDigi Berhad (CelcomDigi). The transformation seeks to ensure the future readiness of its banking operations and revolutionise the customer experience through the implementation of 5G connectivity.

The execution of the implementation will see CelcomDigi supporting Bank Rakyat with an end-to-end smart banking formula for connectivity, driving the bank’s overall operational efficiencies. It will provide customers with high-quality services, ensuring seamless and quick transactions, even when they are on the move.

The initial phase will see Bank Rakyat’s ‘Bank Bergerak’ fleet equipped with CelcomDigi 5G connectivity services, improving connectivity for smoother transactions and real-time updates during banking activities, regardless of the ‘Bank Bergerak’s’ location. The initiative also involves providing solutions to ensure 5G connectivity in select Bank Rakyat branches across Malaysia. Additionally, it focuses on enhancing security and surveillance for off-premises, strengthening the safeguarding of customers’ transactions.

Bank Rakyat is poised to explore various digital IoT opportunities, particularly in the fields of cloud computing and cybersecurity protocols. These initiatives aim to open up new avenues for expanded digitalization provisions and applications, enhancing customer interactions and bolstering competitiveness within the market.

“We are creating this synergy to try and enhance customers’ banking experience with stable technology applications and a secure business environment, especially in extending financial services to the unbanked, unreached, and underserved communities,” said Mohammad Hanis Osman, the chief executive officer of Bank Rakyat. “This initiative also aims to address financial inclusion and catalyse the advancement and flourishing of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs),”
