Angola Telecom chooses CSG for BSS transformation

George Fraser, CSG International

CSG International, with its partner Satec, is to deploy its revenue management systems at Angola Telecom. The contract comes following the successful pilot deployment of CSG Interconnect for the CSP’s wholesale operations.

The integrated solution will include CSG Singleview Convergent Rating & Billing, Singleview Customer Management, and Intermediate, as well as the expansion of CSG Interconnect to include CSG Route and Financial Manager.

State-owned Angola Telecom is the incumbent operator for the country, offering voice and data fixed line services over ADSL, WiMax and fibre. The transformation of the CSP’s back office systems is part of an investment plan that includes the rollout of its next generation network (NGN), fiber optic and IP/MPLS backbone, LTE services as well as wireless in the local loop (WiLL) and copper wire-based last mile deployment, which nearly doubled the number of available lines, 90% of which are digital.

Satec, a multinational ITC integration company providing advanced technology solutions and services to improve productivity and business competitiveness, has won the contract to design and build Angola Telecom’s new information systems using CSG solutions to cover all BSS functionalities and provide a fully integrated best-of-breed BSS/OSS and ERP solution that will allow Angola Telecom to implement its business processes in a cost-efficient, flexible and scalable way.

“Our focus is to bring the best level of service to the people of Angola,” said João Martins, the chief executive at Angola Telecom. “Satec with CSG will provide a complete and integrated solution that will enable us to manage our business for retail, enterprise and wholesale services, allowing us to grow, become profitable and deliver better services in an optimal manner to our customers.”

Teresa Taubmann, the managing director of Satec, added: “The CSG-Satec partnership is committed to bringing transformative solutions and services to telecom providers across Africa. We have embarked on a long-term relationship that combines our complementary competencies and deep domain expertise to rapidly deliver robust solutions and support for the new generation of telecoms.”

George Fraser, the vice president of  CSG EMEA, said: “CSG is extremely pleased to be a part of the transformation of Angola Telecom and a strategic partner with Satec in the region. We are committed to providing the best solution, resources, and optimized models for dynamic, emerging markets around the world. Our team of professionals established a strong level of trust during the pilot phase, and we look forward to a successful deployment of the full solution and growing our relationship with both Angola Telecom and Satec.”
