Tiscali deploys Oracle Communications network solutions

Italian CSP Tiscali has replaced time-dimension multiplexing (TDM) circuits and equipment based on older protocols with new products and solutions from Oracle Communications to enable it to offer high-quality, real-time communications services.“It is part of our heritage to deliver the most innovative and valuable services to our customers – innovation has always been and still is a strategic driver and focus for us,” said Andrea Podda, the CTO of Tiscali. “Oracle Communications’ network solutions provide us with the secure and scalable network we need to continue this tradition. As a result, we will be able to deliver more-innovative communications services to businesses and government organisations, and do so with lower costs.”

Tiscali selected several Oracle Communications products for its network transformation, including Oracle Communications Session Border Controller, Oracle Communications Core Session Manager, Oracle Communications Operations Monitor and Oracle Communications Session Delivery Manager. By deploying these products, Tiscali will be able to expand its offerings for businesses and government agencies throughout Italy, including launching one of the largest Italy-based peering networks, consolidate its systems into one IMS network to more efficiently use available resources, and onitor the network to help ensure availability and security for B2B services, even as the network scales up.

“Communications service providers know that they can’t let legacy network technology hold back their businesses,” said Doug Suriano, senior vice president and general manager, Oracle Communications. “Oracle Communications network solutions can help CSPs get the most out of their network today, as Tiscali is doing with its new B2B service offerings. And, the solutions can help to position them for the future—the convergence of network and IT is inevitable, and we want to make sure our customers are ready.”
