VanillaPlus: What was your first job?
Sven Hammar: I was a sales manager for Luxor Computers, a Sweden-based PC Sales company.
VanillaPlus: What led you into a career in communications IT?
Sven Hammar: I have a Masters in Marketing and Electronics/Data, so the IT direction felt quite natural for me from that point.
VanillaPlus: Without naming and shaming, tell us about your worst ever boss.
Sven Hammar: I am fortunate enough to have not encountered an employer that I would deem my ‘worst ever boss’ (yet). However, my worst ever work would probably have to be sand-blasting railway tracks when I was student.
VanillaPlus: What has been your most memorable business travel experience?
Sven Hammar: A negative but memorable travel experience would be an SAS flight to New York when we were forced to land and refuel in Goose Bay, due to strong headwinds in northern Canada. There’s not a lot to do for 10 hours in Goose Bay, and it’s very cold, even for a Swede!
On the positive side, I’d have to say that my most memorable experiences have been meeting kind and interesting people. I also remember a time in Las Vegas, when I was upgraded to the top penthouse suite of the Luxor Pyramid. The hotel was brand new, so construction was still ongoing, but the view from the top was unforgettable.
VanillaPlus: What has been the proudest moment in your career so far?
Sven Hammar: Winning global large accounts and being selected to deliver software to multiple Fortune 100 companies which maximises their online and app performance.
VanillaPlus: Where do you see yourself in five years?
Sven Hammar: Advising entrepreneurs in business and venture funding.
