Saudi’s STC looks for better customer experiences, taps Ericsson’s OSS/BSS suite

Ericsson and STC, Saudi Arabia, have signed an extensive operations support system/business support system (OSS/BSS). As a result of the agreement, STC expects to deliver an improved customer experience to its mobile subscribers.

The Ericsson solution, which integrates Policy and Charging, will reportedly give STC a full policy control solution to offer differentiated experiences to customers, with optimised operations and total cost of ownership.

STC will gain access to ongoing Ericsson product releases and performance enhancements, future-proofing investments while staying up to date with market and technology transformation trends. STC expects to benefit from improved business agility, and lower costs increasing business and operational efficiency.

The deal includes a range of Ericsson products, including Ericsson Charging System, Mobile Broadband Charging, Multi Mediation, Session Border Gateway, Service-Aware Policy Controller, Composition Engine, Catalog Manager, Order Care and Multiservice Delivery Platform.

Services provided by Ericsson under the agreement include solution design, project management, technology consultancy, service enablement, business configuration, development and customisation, solution integration and verification, and load testing and acceptance.

Eng. Nasser Sulaiman Al Nasser, senior vice president of Technology and Operations, STC, says: “We will now be able to monetise the unique and dynamic capabilities of the Ericsson OSS/BSS installed base with seamless access to new product releases, features and enhancements. We will benefit from Ericsson’s global experience to meet the personalised and rapidly changing requirements of the digital marketplace, and look forward to a thriving collaboration with Ericsson.”

Ali Eid, head of Ericsson Saudi Arabia, added: “This is Ericsson’s largest regional deal so far in OSS/BSS. We have had a continuous and successful partnership with STC in the OSS/BSS domain since 2005 and this deal marks another significant milestone that strengthens our partnership.”

Operators must become agile as they support services across networks, offer a range of plans and push the limits of innovation. Ericsson helps customers meet changing demands with a comprehensive, unified OSS and BSS product suite that combines business, IT and network capabilities.
