Wi-Fi Quality of Experience specialist XCellAir grows with new hires from Ericsson and Alcatel-Lucent

XCellAir, specialists in Wi-Fi Quality of Experience (QoE), has announced the appointment of two new leaders within the organisation.

The company has appointed Derek South, former Ericsson US sales lead as VP of Global Sales, and Neil Dholakia, ex-CTO and VP of Product Line Management of ALU Motive, as Board Director. The appointments will allow XCellAir to build on its market momentum and expand its presence.

Derek South brings over 25 years’ experience of sales management to his new role at XCellAir. Having spent more than 10 years in Wi-Fi solution sales at companies such as Ericsson, BelAir and Ruckus, Derek has deep expertise of the Wi-Fi market, technology and operator needs, as well as the entire portfolio of products to standup a wireless network. In his new role at XCellAir, Derek will be responsible for driving the company’s global sales initiatives and converting the massive amounts of traction created.

“I’m thrilled to be joining XCellAir at such an exciting time for the company. Having only launched last year, XCellAir has already gained great traction in the market and is in a prime position for growth,” said Derek South. “Having worked with both start-ups and large organisations, I’m looking forward to helping drive XCellAir’s market presence and putting the company at a strategic market advantage.”

Neil Dholakia recently joined XCellAir’s Board of Directors, where he will be a key advisor in enabling the company to capitalise on the market momentum it has built to date. Neil brings a unique combination of specific domain expertise, technology and product line acumen, as well as business savvy to the board. His previous roles at ALU Motive have provided him with deep expertise in the management of millions of connected devices, having supported ALU Motive with the management of home gateways and peripherals for Tier 1 operators across the globe.

“XCellAir is primed to transition from intriguing start-up to market leader, expanding not only its market presence but its leadership team too,” said Neil Dholakia. “I am excited to have joined the company as it embarks on its journey of growth. I look forward to helping execute XCellAir’s market vision, guiding operations and helping with the future development of the company.”

Amit Agarwal, CEO of XCellAir also commented: “Our young company continues to go from strength to strength – not only are we seeing a growing number of trials and customer engagements, but we are also building out the organisation. The knowledge, skills and expertise that both Derek and Neil will bring to XCellAir are invaluable. Bringing on board talent and support from some of the industry’s major players shows just how dedicated we are to driving our market presence, and they will both play key roles in showing the industry the innovative and unique qualities of both our company and our solutions.”
