Tektronix Communications buys Arbor Networks
A worldwide provider of communications test and network intelligence systems, Tektronix Communications, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Arbor Networks, a provider of network security and management solutions for converged carrier networks and next-generation data centres. The acquisition is expected to close in September, and its terms have not been disclosed.
Network security threats are evolving, moving from volumetric-based attacks to more sophisticated application attacks targeted at specific services, including Domain Name System (DNS) and cloud-based infrastructure. Arbor Networks’ solutions address these challenges by detecting and mitigating network security threats that impact networks worldwide, causing significant lost revenue and associated collateral damage.

NetEvidence’s SaaS subscriptions rise by over 50%
NetEvidence’s network and application reporting business grew by over 50% during the last financial year. Openet is the policy for a new Brazilian customer
Openet, a subscriber optimisation software provider supplying transactional intelligence for network service providers, has announced an unnamed Brazilian convergent operator as a key policy customer win.
The operator will be deploying Openet’s FusionWorks® Policy Manager, a Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF) offering, in combination with Cisco Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) technologies, as an integrated and proven policy and enforcement solution. Comarch introduces Bill Shock Prevention tool
Comarch, a leading supplier of business-driven software systems and services for telecoms service providers has launched Bill Shock Prevention in an effort to counteract subscriber ‘bill shock’. World’s first pre-paid GSM-CDMA roaming call made
MACH, a provider of hub-based mobile communications exchange systems, and Accuris Networks, a provider of inter-standard and converged solutions, have announced that the world’s first ever pre-paid inter-standard roaming call was made while roaming on to an international GSM network. The call was enabled by MACH’s Inter-Standard Roaming (ISR) system, which uses Accuris Networks’ AccuROAM inter-working platform. It came as the result of an agreement signed with Starcomms Plc Nigeria to deploy MACH’s ISR solutions which is a first in Africa.
The agreement between MACH and Starcomms Plc Nigeria will provide Starcomms’ more than three million pre-paid CDMA customers with seamless access to international mobile roaming on GSM networks and other wireless technologies. She has also driven major product launches in both wireless infrastructure and handsets.
Terry replaces Andy Roberts who has left ip.access to become CEO of the Innovation Group where he was previously non-executive Chairman.
