PhilTower-MIDC JV boosts Philippines’ 4G/5G networks

Phil1-Tower Consortium (PhilTower) and Miescor Infrastructure Development Corporation (MIDC) have announced plans to establish and invest in a Joint Venture company (JVCo). This new entity will fully own both PhilTower and MIDC, aiming to address the increasing need for 4G and 5G mobile network infrastructure throughout the Philippines. A5G Networks, Inc., and Institute for Wireless Internet of Things (WIoT) at Northeastern University announces availability of an intelligent and automated end-to-end private 5G network based on a multi-vendor environment. The network is deployed and serving indoor users in Northeastern University campus in Boston, MA, along with Burlington, MA campus. The radio access network (RAN) is virtualised and automated, based on OpenAirInterface (OAI), while core network leverages A5G cloud-native mobile core.

Eurogate, Deutsche Telekom to deploy 5G networks at three port terminals

EUROGATE has commissioned Deutsche Telekom to implement three 5G campus networks. At ports in Hamburg, Bremerhaven and Wilhelmshaven, the 5G business customer solution “Campus Network L” will improve mobile coverage at container terminals. This will enable container terminal operator to deploy digital logistics applications even more securely and flexibly in the future with bandwidth, high availability and full 5G performance.

Telkomsel, Ericsson renew partnership to expand 4G, 5G networks in Indonesia

Telkomsel and Ericsson have announced their renewed partnership to grow and expand their existing 4G and 5G networks footprint in Indonesia. Ericsson has been providing connectivity and has deployed its 5G radio access network (RAN) products and solutions from Ericsson Radio System in Aceh, Northern Sumatra, Central and West Sumatra and Eastern part of Kalimantan, including New Capitol City (Nusantara). Thus, in B2B (business-to-business) segment, 5G services for industry have been growing through 5G deployment in manufacturing company in Batam since 2021.

European Commission announces next steps on cybersecurity of 5G networks

EU member states, with the support of the European Commission and ENISA (European Union Agency for Cybersecurity), published a second progress report on the implementation of the EU Toolbox on 5G cybersecurity. The report also addresses some of the recommendations of the European Court of Auditors’ special report of January 2022.
