Ericsson to enhance Orange Jordan’s core network with cloud-native 5G solutions

Orange Jordan has chosen Ericsson to support its core network infrastructure by implementing Ericsson’s cloud-native dual-mode 5G core and 5G charging solutions. This upgrade aims to enhance end-user experiences and enable a transition to a 5G standalone (SA) network, enabling use cases such as network slicing.

Ericsson’s dual-mode 5G core, built on cloud-native, microservices-based technology, will optimise Orange Jordan’s total cost of ownership (TCO) and facilitate a smooth migration to 5G and 5G SA. The solution will empower Orange Jordan to introduce new functionalities swiftly, perform maintenance updates efficiently, and cater to diverse segments with agility.

In addition, Ericsson Charging will provide Orange Jordan with a modular, scalable, and open online charging system (OCS) that adheres to industry standards and protocols. This system will enable Orange Jordan to offer centralised service creation for 5G subscribers, accelerating the introduction of new services and enhancing end-user experiences.

Waleed Al Doulat, chief wholesale, information technology, and networks officer at Orange Jordan, expresses, “The significance of working with Ericsson to meet the growing connectivity demands in Jordan. He emphasized that Ericsson’s 5G core and charging solutions will enable them to deliver flexible and scalable services, driving a more connected and digital society in the Kingdom.”

Kevin Murphy, vice president and head of customer unit levant at Ericsson Middle East and Africa, highlights, “The joint effort to build a diversified and digital economy in Jordan. He emphasized that the collaboration with Orange Jordan aims to deliver innovative services, improve customer experiences, and strengthen Jordan’s telecommunications and information technology network in alignment with Jordan Vision 2025.”
