Vodafone, Exchange Communications switch on 4G across Battersea Power Station

Vodafone customers living in, working in, or visiting Battersea Power Station are now getting fast Vodafone 4G mobile data speeds, as well as calls, following improvements being made across London’s riverside neighbourhood.

Connected and driven forward by Exchange Communications, the UK’s in-building cellular solutions provider, Vodafone 4G is already live in the Grade II listed Power Station. Its arrival is ensuring people visiting and working in its shops, bars, restaurants, and office spaces have fast Vodafone 4G signal.

Lift 109, a glass elevator experience in the station’s north-west chimney offering panoramic views of the city, is also covered for those wanting to stream or share their experiences with friends or on social media.

The main power station building joins other areas of the development which are already live, including the underground station, with 4G expected to be switched on across the whole of Battersea in the near future.

Tom Sime, CEO of Exchange Communications, says, “The vision for Battersea Power Station was to create a highly integrated and interactive space where people can live, work, and socialise, all within this new riverside neighbourhood for London.

“After the painstaking restoration of the power station in recent years, our work will truly enable this to become a reality, marking a tangible milestone in the project and delivering unrivalled connectivity.

“As a UK business, it has been a real honour and we are proud to be delivering something of this scale and significance for the UK.

“Battersea Power Station, as a result, has become one of the most connected sites in the country and is an exemplar of how connectivity, can bring spaces to life and into the future for the people who use it.”

Andrea Dona, Vodafone’s UK chief network officer, says, “Battersea Power Station is an iconic London landmark, so to have played a part in its regeneration is fantastic.  Our connectivity will support the Battersea Power Station development by supplying the connectivity it needs to support its residents, businesses, and visitors.

“This will also ensure the power station fulfils its ambition of being a leading London landmark, subsequently boosting the local and wider UK economy.”
