Deutsche Telekom extends 5G roaming to 60 more countries this summer

Deutsche Telekom has announced that its customers can get 5G surfing and streaming while traveling abroad. With partner agreements now in place with over 120 telecommunications companies in 60 countries, Telekom claims that its customers can experience the ‘fastest’ mobile communication standard worldwide, from Canada to Australia, and from the Maldives to Iceland’s natural landscapes.

No extra charge: 5G roaming in the EU

Telekom customers can freely access partner networks’ 5G capabilities within the EU, including the UK and Switzerland, without any additional charges. The prerequisite for this service is the technical availability of 5G in the foreign partner network. Travelers can use their tariff under the same conditions as they would in Germany, including making calls and sending text messages.

Full cost control: global surfing and calling

For travel outside the EU, Telekom offers pre-bookable Travel Mobil options. Basic Travel Mobil packages start from €14.95 per month, providing 1 GB of mobile internet usage, whenever and wherever 5G is available. Furthermore, the prices for telephony (60 minutes) and SMS (100 messages) after reaching usage limits are lower when utilising the Travel Mobil option. In fact, the basic package is cost-effective outside the EU after just 11 minutes of telephony.

5G Network for domestic holidays

Telekom also offers the 5G network quality for those enjoying holidays within Germany. Over 80 million people, equivalent to more than 95% of the population, can access Telekom’s 5G network across the country. With over 25,000 mobile network sites equipped with 5G and new ones built since the introduction of the new mobile communications generation, Telekom boasts more than 9,000 antennas transmitting 5G on the 3.6 GHz frequency in over 700 cities and communities. Download speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second are achievable.
