MTN South Africa implements CSG International traffic management

MTN South Africa has added CSG Route and CSG Assure to complement its deployment of the CSG Wholesale Business Management Solution (WBMS).

The addition of the products will optimise inter-carrier traffic management, improve the quality of service, and increase operational profitability for MTN South Africa.

“International traffic is a core element of our business and the establishment of a best-in-class traffic management practice will help us deliver a distinct customer experience while growing our strong position in the highly competitive South African telecoms market,” said Sethunya Mbete, general manager, carrier services at MTN South Africa. “Our continued investment in the CSG WBMS platform will enable us to improve our retail proposition in the South African market for international calling, especially in neighboring countries using the MTN network.”

CSG Route promotes fast, flexible rate negotiation in addition to optimised traffic routing and discrepancy resolution. CSG Route will enable MTN wholesale customers to keep pace with the constantly changing trading, routing, and quality variables in its network. Uploading new rate changes once took MTN South Africa weeks to complete, but with CSG Route, rate changes can be completed at the click of a button.

In addition, CSG Assure will verify quality of service and detect any instances of fraud in MTN’s international voice traffic, improving MTN’s customer and inter-carrier revenue.

“Buying and selling international traffic is a critical component of the wholesale business,” said George Fraser, vice president, EMEA, at CSG International. “MTN South Africa’s addition of CSG Route and CSG Assure to its CSG WBMS platform can quickly deliver improved traffic management, strengthening MTN’s competitive position in the region.”
