Ogilvy’s EMEA CEO joins mobile marketing and advertising technology provider, Velti

Mike Walsh has 33 years experience with a brand portfolio including Ford, Nestle, GSK, American Express and Heinz.

London, UK. 22 February, 2010:  Velti (LSE:VEL), a global provider of mobile marketing and advertising systems, has appointed Mike Walsh as Vice President of Business Development in the UK. Mike will be based in Velti's London office, leading the company's interaction with agencies, brands and enterprises. Velti enables brands, ad agencies, and mobile operators to communicate with and engage customers via their mobile devices.

Velti has run mobile advertising and marketing campaigns globally for more than 450 brands, advertising agencies, and mobile operators that have reached over two billion consumers. Its core platform, Velti mGage, is built on modular architecture designed to handle the full cycle of mobile marketing and advertising, including campaign and media planning, ad serving and routing, mobile internet, post-click marketing, and reporting requirements in mobile marketing, in one end-to-end platform. Founded in 2000 and with operations in 35 countries, Velti is a publicly-held corporation based in the UK.

Mike Walsh has 33 years experience with a brand portfolio including Ford, Nestle, GSK, American Express and Heinz. Former positions include Director of the Worldwide Board and Group CEO for EMEA at Ogilvy and Mather where he was responsible for operations in 66 countries. He will be focused on educating traditional agencies and brands on the mobile channel and how integrated, multi-channel campaign opportunities can be delivered, and will report to Velti's CEO, Alex Moukas.

"Mobile delivers on the marketing objectives that all brands strive to achieve – highly targeted audiences defined attitudinally as well as demographically, a cost-effective channel, accountability and measurability," says Walsh. "To be part of an exciting business that is leading the mobile marketing revolution is a real honour and a challenge.

"Velti was founded by some very clever entrepreneurs from the MIT and is made up of a new breed of bright, stimulating young people. Having run a large part of an established, global company for many years, it is refreshing to be part of the early years of a new one," adds Walsh.

Mike Walsh was a trustee and former Vice-Chairman of the British Red Cross, was a World Trustee of WWF (World Wildlife Fund) and is currently Chairman of the UK Disasters Emergency Committee, representing 13 of the UK's largest international charities.
