European Commission announces next steps on cybersecurity of 5G networks

EU member states, with the support of the European Commission and ENISA (European Union Agency for Cybersecurity), published a second progress report on the implementation of the EU Toolbox on 5G cybersecurity. The report also addresses some of the recommendations of the European Court of Auditors’ special report of January 2022.

Satellite communications services market to reach US$141bn by 2030, says ABI Research

The deployment of satellite constellations in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) for low-latency and high throughput network applications and extending terrestrial network (TN) coverage have become significant drivers in the adoption of satellite services in the global telecommunications sector. According to global technology intelligence firm ABI Research, this adoption will culminate in US$141 billion (€135.82 billion) worth of annual service revenues from satellites by 2030.

Telcos must challenge Apple and Google’s stranglehold on mobile ecosystem

The UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has launched a probe into what it says is the “vice-like grip” Apple and Google have over the mobile ecosystem. Business technology journalist, Antony Savvas says telcos and their partners should step up to the plate and use wider regulatory pressure on “big tech” to take back some power in the communication services market.
