Japan industry partners launch trials to boost cybersecurity against threats in telecoms industry

Japan KDDI Corporation, KDDI Research, Inc., Fujitsu Limited, NEC Corporation, and Mitsubishi Research Institute, Inc. (MRI), announced that they will embark on a series of trials exploring the introduction of software bill of materials (SBOM), a list of programmes that comprise software, into the communications field including 5G and LTE (long-term evolution) network equipment with the aim of strengthening cybersecurity. The five companies plan to establish a framework to manage this project and start a survey to address different technical and operational issues surrounding the use of SBOM.

Poland unveils O-RAN 5G network for Industry 4.0, powered by IS-Wireless

The initial Open RAN 5G private network for industry 4.0 in Poland has been officially launched in Cracow. It marks the beginning of the next generation of mobile networks implementations for industrial purposes in the country.
