DSA to advance affordable connectivity in underserved countries from Brazil to Indonesia

Washington D.C., USA. 9^th February 2022 – A partnership between the UK Government’s Digital Access Programme (DAP) and the Dynamic Spectrum Alliance (DSA) is contributing towards digital inclusion in Brazil, Indonesia, Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa. By encouraging ‘a new spectrum mindset’ the DSA and DAP aim to catalyse affordable internet connectivity in underserved regions to support the inclusive growth of the digital ecosystem.

BT seals data centre deal with BAI Communications to help deliver high speed mobile connectivity

BT announced the signing of a multi-million pound contract with BAI Communications (BAI), to deliver a core part of the company’s data centre requirements as it works with Transport for London (TfL) to enable high-speed mobile and Wi-Fi coverage on the London Underground.

Telecoms sector R&D spending jumps 4.5% to 9-year high, says ONS data

Annual research and development (R&D) spending in the telecoms sector has risen 4.5% to a nine-year high of just over £1 billion (€1.18 billion), according to ONS data released on Friday.

Openness in telecoms must focus on fostering growth

Openness has been a key buzzword in telecoms since last summer’s announcement that Huawei will be removed from a significant portion of the world’s mobile network infrastructure. Countries including Australia, France, India, Sweden, UK and US have all banned Huawei equipment from their 5G trials and network installations on the grounds of national security.
