Amdocs’ doxi docks to transform broadband routers for the smart home era

amdocs:next, the business unit of Amdocs that focuses on broadband and home connectivity, has unveiled new consumer hardware for the first time in the form of doxi, a smart home router. This doesn’t mean Amdocs is becoming a consumer hardware manufacturer but that it has focused on turning the domestic router from a misunderstood, complex and easily ignored device into an simple to use hub of the digital home, writes George Malim.

Nokia WING chief says it’s not too early to add 5G and edge capabilities for IoT

Nokia launched WING, its Worldwide IoT Network Grid, in 2017 to provide organisations with a single global supplier of connectivity, edge and other resources with the aim of accelerating and simplifying global deployments for communications service providers (CSPs) and their enterprise customers. George Malim recently spoke to Ankur Bhan, the head of the Nokia WING business, to catch up on the unit’s progress.

Subsea cable capacity will provide the backbone capacity to enable the vast number of new business requirements that are arriving with 5G, artificial intelligence, machine learning and within IoT. However, price pressure on cable providers, the demise of the consortium model and continued transformational innovation in technology are radically altering the operational mode – and economics – for subsea cable owners.
