NGMN Alliance appoints new Board of Directors and elects Johan Wibergh as Chairman

At NGMN Alliance first meeting, the Board of Directors elected Johan Wibergh from Vodafone as new NGMN Chairman. The Board also agreed to focus its work-programme in the next years on key industry areas, in particular, international 5G trials and testing, end-to-end architecture, IPR and spectrum demand. In addition, the Board highlighted its commitment to maintain and grow NGMN’s network of industry vertical representatives for the work on 5G solutions addressing future business opportunities.

In his concluding remarks, Johan Wibergh stated: “I am honoured to be appointed as the Chairman of the NGMN Board and want to express my sincere appreciation to the former Chairman Bruno Jacobfeuerborn. Under his leadership the NGMN Alliance has grown significantly and has successfully developed the widely-acknowledged NGMN 5G White Paper. I am fully committed to continue his excellent work and to contribute Vodafone’s expertise in the Alliance’s efforts to shape the 5G development in the coming years.”

The Annual General Meeting of the NGMN Alliance appointed new Board Members on October 12th, 2016. The new Board Members elected for the period from 2016 to 2018 are:
