eir chooses Openet for policy and charging control for digital service passes

Ireland’s largest communications service provider (CSP), eir, has deployed Openet’s Policy Manager solution. The activation of Openet’s solution enables the CSP to offer advanced digital service functionality and bundled offers to its customers. This is the first deployment of its kind in the Irish market.

Openet’s Policy Manager enables eir to provide its customers with greater access to service category bundles such as a social media bundles and mobile TV, using more flexible service pricing. eir now has greater flexibility to enhance customer data bundles while also enabling improved capability to offer variable speeds for digital service experiences.

eir’s deployment of Openet’s Policy Manager builds on a long-standing partnership between the two companies. The CSP initially selected Openet’s Charging solution in 2009 to support its dedication to charging improvements, especially in relation to roaming offers and pre-emptive compliance with EU roaming requirements. The combination of Openet’s Policy Manager and Evolved Charging products enables enhanced flexibility as eir extends further into digital content and value-added services across its subscriber base.

“The activation of Openet’s Policy Manager allows us to launch new and personalised services that will enhance the experience of our subscribers and differentiate us in the market” said Ashley Morgan, the director of Service Creation at eir. “As a result, new bundles and offers are already providing enhanced access to popular social media content. The development of our relationship with Openet allows us to continue our commitment to digital innovation.”

Niall Norton, the CEO of Openet, added: “We are delighted that eir recognises the value that our combined charging and policy solutions provide as it continues to advance its digital services. We believe that advanced partnerships with digital content providers combined with innovative network controls and offer management enable some of the best opportunities for service providers to ensure they continue to enhance their customer engagement.”
