devolo unveils ‘enhanced internet access’ device for connected home at IFA

Home networking specialist devolo will be presenting its new GigaGate WiFi bridge, set to be released in early 2017, at this year’s IFA 2016 technology conference in Berlin.

The latest in the company’s range of WiFi enhancing products, GigaGate is a WiFi bridge for connecting all internet-compatible multimedia devices in the home.

The WiFi data rate between the devolo GigaGate base and the GigaGate bridge unit reaches speeds of up to 2 Gbps, making it possible for users to enjoy the full multimedia potential of faster gigabit internet connections, including 4k UHD video streaming, high resolution audio, gaming and faster access to NAS drives.download

The GigaGate Starter Pack consists of a base unit which is connected to the router, and a WiFi bridge unit, which can then be located at any point throughout the home. The two components establish four simultaneous WiFi connections in the 5GHz band, using self-aligning antennas to maximise the bandwidth between devices.

The devolo GigaGate bridge consists of one gigabit port, four multimedia ports and high-speed 802.11n WiFi, maximising users’ connection options. From smart TVs to gaming consoles, the bridge offers users an all-in-one solution for networking all household devices either by Ethernet cable or fast WiFi.

The devolo GigaGate will be available to buy in stores and online at the beginning of 2017 at a recommended retail price of £198 ($264).

IFA 2016 will take place in Berlin from 2-7 September.
