Netformx launches Collection Engine for remote network discoveries

Netformx has announced availability of Netformx Collection Engine, a standalone application that makes it easy to perform a network discovery at a remote customer location. It is a streamlined, self-contained version of the existing Netformx discovery collector.

Netformx Collection Engine creates a baseline and audit of a customer’s actual network to provide insights on technology upgrade, replacement and enhancement opportunities. It identifies topology, equipment and configuration data to allow reporting of end of life, end of support and resource gaps. Users can audit and discover multi-vendor networks to accurately baseline a customer’s technology in minutes.

With the Collection Engine, users can now get discovery results without leaving the office thereby eliminating extensive travel, which saves time and money. Using the portable application they can support their entire customer base and collect asset inventory data remotely.

“Netformx DesignXpert users gain tremendous value when they perform remote discoveries with Netformx’ Collection Engine,” said Jason Peacock, the business operations director at BT. “They can now simply email the Collection Engine directly to the end-customers where it can be installed on any authorized workstation, saving time and travel expense. Being able to easily complete a discovery in this manner enhances our capacity to support our customers. We can identify equipment no longer meeting the demands of their users. It enhances our ability to target new opportunities, increase customer satisfaction, and thereby expand our bottom line.”

Robert Klotz, the vice president of product strategy at Netformx, added: “Because Netformx Collection Engine simplifies the discovery process, solution providers can cost-effectively gain insights about their customers’ networks, such as potential security vulnerabilities, and target network migrations and upgrades. As a result, they can drive more business based on what their customers have already deployed in their networks.”
