NEC and Netcracker contribute to NTT’s SDN/NFV trial with NFV Orchestrator solution

NEC Corporation and Netcracker Technology have participated in a trial with Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) to contribute to their NetroSphere concept.

NTT’s NetroSphere concept is designed to transform carrier networks from static, single-service networks powered by purpose-built hardware to a dynamic, flexible assembly of smaller, modular components. This enables telecommunications service providers to deliver a diverse range of services to a wide variety of end users, on demand and at low cost.

The trial incorporated numerous components, including a modular-based virtualised network, virtualised servers, orchestrators and controllers. As part of this trial, NEC and Netcracker provided their globally-proven NFV Orchestrator.

“We are excited to work with NTT in showcasing how the market’s shift into the virtualised and open world is feasible when management and orchestration capabilities are front and center,” said Atsuo Kawamura, senior vice president at NEC Corporation. “With the appropriate solutions in place, service providers can become more flexible, making it easier to meet the rapidly changing requirements of their customers and the industry.”

NEC Corporation integrates IT and network technologies. By providing a combination of products and solutions that cross-utilise the company’s experience and global resources, NEC’s technologies aim to meet customers’ ever-changing needs of its customers.

Netcracker Technology, a wholly owned subsidiary of NEC Corporation, offers solutions to service providers around the globe. Its portfolio of software solutions and professional services enables large-scale digital transformations, unlocking the opportunities of the cloud, virtualisation and the changing mobile ecosystem.
