Accedian solution to enable performance-assured low latency services on Hibernia Express

Accedian, has announced that its network solution is being utilised by global telecommunication solutions provider, Hibernia Networks. The solution is providing tiered termination aggregation services.

Hibernia Networks’ new transatlantic cable, Hibernia Express, offers the lowest latency transatlantic connectivity, capable of round-trip speeds of under 58.95 milliseconds between New York and London. The Accedian platform enables Hibernia Networks to provide flexible Ethernet speeds for its portfolio of industry-leading, low latency connectivity solutions, ensuring a more precisely scaled service that meets the individual requirements of its customers.

Service on the Hibernia Express cable system was launched in September 2015. The Accedian network solution was selected to help aggregate and terminate a tiered offering of low latency services, enabling Hibernia Networks to more effectively address the specific requirements of its customers. Underlying Accedian’s unique technology is a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) chipset capable of processing every data packet at line speed.

The Accedian network solution is capable of providing monitoring and measurement functions on a one-way transatlantic transmission with sub-microsecond accuracy—enabling Hibernia Networks to provide more proactive performance assurance support for low latency services, from its network operations center. The performance monitoring metrics include latency, packet loss, and jitter.

“We’re delighted to be part of Hibernia Networks state-of-the-art transatlantic cable system,” said Patrick Ostiguy, CEO, Accedian. “Our ability to guarantee lowest possible latency through technology innovation and best-practice continues to provide the hallmark for our ongoing expansion as we serve an increasing number of service providers spanning wholesale, mobile, and cable networks.”

“Delivering the lowest latency connection between North America and Europe is a major achievement in the development of submarine low latency cable facilities,” said Al DiGabriele, senior vice president of Product Management and Marketing at Hibernia Networks. “Hibernia Express has become a business-changing differentiator for customers across many industries, including financial services firms and media companies, all looking to drive maximum network speed and performance at scale.”
