AsiaInfo partners with Amazon to offer BSS over cloud

AsiaInfo has partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to offer its full Veris suite of telecoms software as a cloud proposition, called Veris Cloud Core. The vendor is to utilise AWS infrastructure as the platform for Veris Cloud Core in addition to accessing development, training and marketing assistance from the web giant.

The goal of the offering is to enable communications service providers (CSPs) – and other enterprises – to access AsiaInfo software via a cloud model. AsiaInfo thinks that customer which use the AWS Infrastructure can achieve greater operational and management efficiency by transforming their IT environments using the AWS Infrastructure.

“Our full Veris suite, which its telco grade and supports 300 million subscribers, is ready to go in Amazon’s cloud,” said Dr Andy Tiller, the vice president of product marketing at AsiaInfo. “We think the time is right to look at this as an option for the telco. We believe public cloud infrastructure is secure enough and has the flexibility to support the full tier one telco IT stack.”

Tiller added that the company, which is calling the new proposition its Business Internet Platform, wants to provide the option for CSPs, which are using cloud platforms for new offerings and for the development of specific services, to continue to use cloud beyond adjunct or trial systems and, ultimately, to migrate traditional business units to cloud platforms.

Veris Cloud Core is just the first of a series of software that AsiaInfo plans to offer using its cloud-based Business Internet Platform. As CSPs transition to digital service providers (DSPs), the firm sees greater cross-industry collaboration and a heightened need for the flexibility and agility that cloud platforms can provide in support of this.
