Covertix announces complete data discovery and protection for Box, GoogleDrive, DropBox enterprise file sharing

Covertix, a provider of data-centric security solutions, reports that its SmartCipher™ suite now fully supports Enterprise File Sharing and Synching, which makes data accessible and shareable on web, mobile, cloud, and desktop.

“Technologies like GoogleDrive and Box facilitate mission critical sharing across employees and third parties,” said Yoran Sirkis, CEO of Covertix. “One main problem is tracking the information after it’s been shared and with whom it has been shared. You cannot protect it if you cannot find it.”

SmartCipherTM data-centric technology protects information in motion, in use, and at rest locally, in the data center, on the cloud, and everywhere else, inside and out, with complete intelligence, governance and reporting capabilities.

While these solutions offer general document protection on the cloud, no actual data governance exists, so the information is not protected from unauthorised sharing. As it hosts both corporate accounts and personal accounts, companies have a hard time discovering what data is on Dropbox or Box and within which accounts it resides.

Using the SmartCipher discovery mode gives security administrators the ability to track and analyse digital assets and user behavior according to file context and location. Based on what was learned during the discovery process, active mode allows you to define the types of information and designate protection rules, which will then be applied automatically and universally across the organisation’s data stores – EFSS, onsite, within email, etc. These classification rules can be changed and enforced in real-time, even if a document has already left the organisation.

Covertix solutions already identify, classify, and protect information on Office 365, Outlook, SalesForce, SharePoint, Gmail, and Citrix.

“While the cloud is definitely a business enabler, it can lead to disaster if you cannot find out where your information is or who has it,” continued Yoran. “With SmartCipher and cloud-sharing products, you have the best of both worlds.”
