Spirent Communications plc has announced that it has appointed Kim Fisker as chief technical officer Mobilethink and Tweakker , which form Spirent’s device intelligence business unit, effective 1st December, 2015.

Fisker holds an M.SC, Computer Science from Aarhus University in Denmark and has since worked in the telecoms industry for more than 20 years. He began his career as a software developer for digital switch maker Diax of Denmark and quickly progressed to being the firm’s team leader for SS7 telephony signaling protocols. When Diax was acquired by Ericsson, he was appointed area software development manager for all products associated with its digital switch platform.

The year 1999 saw Fisker joining SS7 software component firm Ulticom of New Jersey as director of software development becoming chief architect of the company in 2011 where he was tasked with transitioning Ulticom from being an SS7 only manufacturer into a developer of next generation 4G Digital Network Contollers (DSC). Ulticom became a top 5 supplier in the DSC product market space and was the primary reason behind the Mavenir acquisition of Ulticom in early 2015.

Lars Houbak, general manager of Mobilethink, commented: “Kim Fisker brings a wealth of telecoms development knowledge, expertise and leadership to Mobilethink and Tweakker. His world class VoLTE expertise couldn’t come at a better time looking at our growing VoLTE DM trial pipeline. Having managed network development teams with leading network businesses in America and Europe, he will play a key role in defining and implementing the next generation high-value product additions for both Mobilethink and Tweakker.”

Spirent’s unique Mobilethink solutions represent the new next generation mobile operator-centric cloud and on-premise device intelligence solution, which extends the functionalities of mainstream legacy device management solutions.  While it continues to help more than 100 network operators to better manage the ever growing and diversifying device space, the new Mobilethink real-time customer engagement automation extension allows them to drive greater customer life-time value. Last month, Spirent unveiled the Mobilethink VoLTE Device Management solution, which provides subscribers a hassle-free VoLTE service while reducing operators’ VoLTE deployment and operational costs.

Tweakker, through its cloud-based Device Guides, enables mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) to provide end-users flexible self-care and high quality customer care experience with radically reduced customer care costs. Through its market leading device intelligence library and APN Setup, Tweakker provides MVNOs fast and seamless zero-touch on-boarding for new subscribers ensuring rapid revenue uptake. By connecting with Spirent’s device library, MVNOs can tap into the world’s richest and most accurate device capability data, with over 150 data points per device, and to enrich their subscriber insight for marketing and business decision purposes.
