Telefónica Germany deploys Comarch OSS for inventory consolidation

Comarch has completed deployment of a network inventory management consolidation and unification project at Telefónica Germany. Comarch OSS are being used to help Telefónica Germany build a central technology data hub and provide a comprehensive view of the network, which will be used both inside and outside of the company.

Comarch was originally selected by Telefónica Germany to carry out a network merger project arising from Telefónica’s acquisition of E-Plus in 2014. As part of that project, Comarch delivered the full OSS service fulfilment environment to Telefónica Germany, including Comarch Network Inventory Management, Comarch Next Generation Network Planning, Comarch Auto Discovery & Reconciliation and Comarch OSS Process Management. The system was developed in close cooperation with Telefónica Germany’s network engineers and completed in less than six months as a fully managed solution, speeding up the network consolidation process significantly.

Following the successful implementation of the system, Telefónica Germany appointed Comarch to help consolidate the legacy OSS in the service fulfilment domain. The main goal of this project, launched in March 2015, is to manage the consolidation and unification of Inventory Management for all technologies: RAN (Radio Access network), transport, core and fixed access network, within the new company.

“In this challenging project, Comarch supports Telefónica Germany after the acquisition of the E-Plus group with ready-made, established solutions and technical consulting,” said Marcin Dąbrowski, the vice president of telecommunications at Comarch. “In the past, Comarch successfully delivered OSS projects to both operators. Due to that knowledge and enhanced cooperation on all levels, we were able to provide a powerful solution based on our standard modules. We support the process of network consolidation planning, integrating and managing the data flow from both operators, and providing the environment in a fully managed service model hosted in Comarch data centres in Dresden and in Krakow.”

“As a result of the successful delivery of the tactical planning project, Comarch has been chosen by Telefónica Germany to support the consolidation of the network inventory management of the new company,” Dąbrowski added. “Additionally, we have been awarded in Telefónica with the position of a Recommended Supplier of Configuration Management, Network Planning and Design for LatAm and Germany, and we are currently implementing the first OSS projects in Brazil. We are happy with this fruitful partnership between Telefónica and Comarch.”

Marcus Thurand, the vice president of network operations at Telefónica Germany, said: “Comarch Next Generation Network Planning helped us to start planning the target network and realize our first network consolidation activities almost immediately after the merger approval. Moreover, with this powerful solution we were able to plan the target network within two months, in an efficient process engaging only Telefónica employees. Telefónica Germany and the Comarch project team cooperated closely and intensively. We greatly appreciate the flexibility and professionalism of the Comarch team.”
