Syniverse extends LTE roaming reach for Telin

Syniverse extends LTE roaming reach for Telin

Syniverse and Telin have signed a multiyear agreement to provide Telin, one of the largest network service providers in Southeast Asia, with 4G roaming and signaling connectivity through Syniverse’s IPX Network Solution.

Through the agreement, Syniverse will enable Telin to deliver seamless LTE roaming services to its sister company and Indonesia’s largest CSP, Telkomsel, which has more than 120 million subscribers.

“Collaboration with Syniverse has strengthened Telin’s capability in delivering LTE roaming services to customers,” said Natigor Sitorus, the director of marketing and sales at Telin. “In addition to the increased capability in infrastructure and footprint, the agreement will also enhance Telin’s portfolio in the business sector by providing an interoperable and versatile network.”

Syniverse’s IPX Network Solution interconnects the world’s networks to make LTE roaming possible. The IPX Network Solution provides a carrier-grade connection to the company’s all-IP network, which currently serves more than 2,000 LTE roaming routes. The enhanced roaming reach Telin achieves through Syniverse’s IPX network is supported in part by Syniverse’s Diameter Signaling Service, which enables signaling routing and interoperability. Together, these solutions deliver multiple class-of-service levels to support voice, data and video with guaranteed security.

Indonesia and Asia Pacific represent a critical market for LTE roaming in the next few years, according to GSMA Intelligence. The region has half of the world’s subscribers and connections, with 1.8 billion and 3.8 billion, respectively, and smartphone adoption is forecast to rise from 40% in 2015 to over 50% by 2016, and reach 66% by 2020.

“We are honored that Telin chose Syniverse to extend its LTE roaming reach,” said MK Chang, the vice president for Advanced Signal and Network Interoperability and Mobile Transaction Services at Syniverse. “At the forefront of LTE roaming enablement for operators around the globe, Syniverse looks forward to using this expertise combined with LTE reach to more than 270 operators in 44 countries to help Telin deliver the highest level of LTE service.”

The agreement with Telin builds on Syniverse’s recent accomplishments in Asia, including supporting Amazon China in optimising mobile customer engagement, providing global A2P messaging for the Bigo free-call app, enabling Wi-Fi connectivity for Samsung Indonesia, delivering the Syniverse IPX Network Solution for SoftBank, and launching the world’s first  VoLTE (Voice over LTE) services for LG Uplus and KDDI.
