Operator to offer popular WiFi calling service to customers

Interop Technologies, a provider of innovative,  virtualized IP networks and next-generation communication solutions, announced that Union Wireless, headquartered in Mountain View, Wyoming, has selected the Interop Technologies CorePlusXSM VoWiFi solution to offer WiFi calling service to subscribers throughout Wyoming, Colorado, and Utah.

Interop’s cloud-based solution, which supports native and downloadable WiFi calling clients on the latest Apple and Android devices, enables Union Wireless subscribers to make voice calls and send text messages across any available WiFi network.

“When evaluating VoWiFi options, Interop’s cloud-based solution was the clear choice,” said Eric Woody, CTO, Union Wireless. “Not only will we be able to quickly and cost effectively bring WiFi calling to our market, but we’ll also be establishing a seamless path to IMS and VoLTE, thanks to the layered architecture of the CorePlusXSM product suite.”

“Enabling operators to meet the immediate demand for VoWiFi while simultaneously planning for future needs is a true point of differentiation for CorePlusXSM,” said Ray Vinson, Product Manager, Interop Technologies. “Our standards-based CorePlusXSM suite is a complete, end-to-end solution that supports operators in quickly rolling out the services that meet their current market demands while laying the foundation for additional next-generation communication services.”

For mobile operators, WiFi calling:

  • Complements network coverage
  • Reduces national and international roaming costs
  • Increases subscriber satisfaction and reduces churn.

For subscribers, WiFi calling:

  • Delivers a richer user experience
  • Enhances voice coverage
  • Reduces international roaming expenses

VoWiFi is one of the five IP services of Interop’s CorePlusX℠ suite, an innovative infrastructure as a service (IaaS) offering. CorePlusXSM enables companies to rapidly deploy IMS, Voice-over-WiFi, Voice-over-LTE, Voice-over-LTE Roaming, and Rich Communication Services (RCS). Additionally CorePlusX℠ provides Policy Control, Home Subscriber Service, and a Diameter Gateway to provide secure, centralized and high-performance advanced IP communications.

VoWiFi may be deployed separately or in any combination with other CorePlusXSM services, providing operators with optimum flexibility to meet the demands of their respective markets at any point in time. All CorePlusX℠ services reduce upfront and operating costs, complexity, and time to market while providing a risk-free path to next-generation communications.
