Com Hem selects PacketFront to facilitate FTTH roll-out

Swedish triple play cable operator Com Hem has announced a large fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) roll-out and has chosen PacketFront Software’s BECS Network Management System to automate the access network deployment.

The delivery includes BECS’s Plan and build tool for network documentation, resource management, configuration assurance and software management. BECS also enables zero-touch configuration of network elements in Com Hem’s multi-vendor environment. This means out-of-the-box element deployment and automated configuration control of network events regardless of equipment manufacturer.

“We are pleased that after a tough evaluation process Com Hem has chosen us to deliver the network management platform”, says Ulf Avrin, the chief executive of PacketFront Software. “We will create a network environment for Com Hem with low costs and large efficiencies in their operations thanks to a high level of automation and control”.

Peter Eriksson, manager of OSS at Com Hem, added: “We are very excited to work with PacketFront Software. They have extensive experience of deploying FTTH networks, knowledge that is reflected in their BECS product. BECS provides complete data integrity and network control enabling a fully automated network deploy process. The system is flexible, integrates well with our existing BSS stack and gives us tools to develop our own functions, making the system adaptable to future needs.”
