VOSS secures new funding from Vodafone Ventures and launches User Deployment Service
VOSS Solutions, a cloud fulfillment technology provider, has closed a new funding round with Vodafone Ventures, and today launched a User Deployment Service to automate the set up of users.
Reading, UK. January 18, 2011 — VOSS Solutions, a cloud fulfilment technology provider, has closed the second phase of its Series C private equity funding round, with Vodafone Ventures. Today the company has also launched a User Deployment Service to automate the set up of users, their associated devices and services, on a unified communications and collaboration (UC&C) platform.
Vodafone Ventures is the investment arm of Vodafone Group PLC, specialising in investments in seed, start-up, early- and mid-stage companies in the wireless and internet sectors. It invests between £2 million ($3.6 million) and £10 million ($18.1 million) in the portfolio companies and typically invests in companies that offer strategic services to the Vodafone Group.
The first phase of VOSS’ Series C funding round included investment from Intel Capital, Eden Ventures and XAnge. These funds are intended to enable VOSS to fuel its growth as a leading UC&C cloud fulfilment provider, and to support the evolution of its technology which ha, says the company, been deployed into more tier-1 service providers than any of its competitors, including AT&T, BT and CenturyLink.
Mike Frayne (pictured), CEO of VOSS Solutions, comments, “We welcome Vodafone Ventures' decision to take an equity stake in VOSS. It demonstrates their confidence that management technology plays a key role in the success of unified communications, and VOSS is the leader in this field, especially in the area of advanced mobility.”
User Deployment Service
Until now, deploying users onto a new UC&C platform from existing legacy voice or third party UC systems has posed monumental challenges, says VOSS. However, as service providers set up cloud platforms and large enterprises embrace UC&C, there is a growing requirement to migrate their existing voice architecture onto a more modern platform that can support the complexity that UC&C brings. Increasing the speed of user 'on-boarding' is said to be fundamental to the service:
- For enterprises, the sooner end users can start using UC&C services, the sooner they and their organisation can enjoy the benefits
- For service providers, the sooner end users are migrated onto their cloud based UC&C platforms, the sooner they can generate new streams of revenue
VOSS has harnessed the many years’ experience in deploying users onto UC&C platforms to create the User Deployment Service, which is based on a suite of tools that extract data from multiple external sources, then transform, enrich and load the data into the UC&C platform, which results in the automated setup of the users, their associated devices and services on the UC platform.
Ian Middleton, VOSS's CTO, says, “The VOSS User Deployment Service will speed up the process of user on-boarding, increase data accuracy whilst eliminating the risk of manual error, and standardise processes across the organisation, no matter how diverse. As VOSS fully integrates the entire voice architecture into a single, centrally managed, cloud-based VOSS platform, we anticipate this service being hugely popular.”
