CASE STUDY: Putting users in the driving seatIn 2008, one operator in Asia reached 47 million subscribers and market capitalisation of US$27 billion. They needed to provide the same level of service that subscribers have come to expect in
the rest of the world, but for a fraction of the price. As network performance management specialist, Arieso reports, to achieve this, the network had to be continuously upgraded, which understandably led to significant challenges in maintaining the quality of service in the network.
Problems began to appear, with a steady increase in the number of dropped calls and falling quality of user experience (QoE). While
this could be seen as an inevitable consequence of the phenomenal growth, the operator did not want to blemish the reputation it had built for providing good user experience.
