Telefonica Spain uses Astellia’s geo-analytics for value-based RAN optimisation

Astellia, a provider of network and subscriber intelligence for mobile operators, has signed a 3-year contract with Telefonica Spain for the implementation of its industry providing in Nova RAN 3G and 4G optimisation solution.

Telefonica Spain’s central and regional RAN optimisation teams will use Astellia’s customer-centric geo-located Nova RAN analytics and optimisation solution to prioritise network investments and improve network coverage, capacity and performance. By geolocating high-ARPU customers every second and pinpointing their frequent access points, optimisation teams will make strategic decisions on which parts of the RAN should be upgraded to improve accessibility and avoid congestion.

Nova RAN’s advanced predictive algorithms distinguish indoor/outdoor, static/mobility calls (high speed train, motorways) and coverage & traffic hotspots. This information can also be used to improve network planning by recommending additional small cells for instance.

Telefonica_logo.web“We have very ambitious targets in terms of improving the customer experience of our 16 million subscribers, reducing churn and ensuring shareholder value. With Nova RAN, we have a solid solution at hand to improve overall customer experience and maximise return on investment of network infrastructure,“ commented Vicente Abad, RAN Optimisation manager at Telefonica Spain.

“Quality of network experience is crucial in enabling a digital lifestyle. With consumers spending more than 3 hours a day on their mobile devices, the quality of that network experience is becoming more important than ever. Telefonica does well understand that quality does not happen by accident. We are therefore very proud to facilitate their efforts to deliver an unmatched network quality to each and every customer,” confirmed Domingo Muñoz, Global Account director at Astellia.
