Huawei helps MSOs accelerate video and broadband service opportunities

Huawei has announced a suite of solutions designed to help global Multi-Service Operators (MSOs) strengthen their competitiveness in the digital era.

To address the rapid proliferation of connected devices and competition from fast-moving over-the-top players (OTTs) and traditional telcos, Huawei advocates a two-pronged strategy for MSOs:  provide high-quality multi-screen services to accelerate video business opportunities; and enhance broadband services to ensure a superior user experience.

Ron Pitcock, VP/GM of MSO Group, Huawei USA said: “MSOs need to evolve quickly to remain competitive and drive revenue growth. To expand their video business, MSOs must respond to users increasing demands for enriched original content and multi-screen experiences. The broadband business is key to MSOs’ business growth, however the competition is intensifying as the market becomes saturated and telcos are catching up through fiber to the x (FTTx) and G.fast deployment. MSOs also need to continuously improve network performance by leveraging FTTx as well as DOCSIS 3.1.”

During SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2015, Huawei showcased its Hybrid Video Solution and a series of GigaBand Network solutions spanning Giga Coax, Giga Transmission and Giga Backhaul. These solutions help MSOs advance their service and network capabilities towards full-service operation and delivery of optimal multi-screen experiences to end users.

Hybrid Video Solution: Helps MSOs build a next-generation platform that ensures network synergy and enables the provisioning of enriched TV services via integrated delivery streams.

Giga Coax Solutions: Enables MSOs to build an all-digital network with the total cost of ownership down by 30%; One-step DOCISIS 3.1 deployment realises effective performance improvement; the solution also creates a converged platform for DOCSIS and FTTx for enhanced efficiency and agility.

Giga Transmission Solutions: Offers the industry’s first Multi-Service Optical Transport Network based on 100G/400G ensuring ultra-large capacity and transmission quality; SDN-based optical solutions can provide greater flexibility and efficiency.

Giga Backhaul Solutions: Helps MSOs build SDN-based future-proof IP backhaul networks that support multi-service access and NP-based programmable architecture, ensuring easy deployment, ultra-large capacity up to 100GE, and effective support for business evolution; its built-in traffic analysis and service quality control functions can further enhance user experiences.

An active innovator for the next-generation access technologies, Huawei has expanded its footprint of MSO businesses across Northern America, Europe, Latin America and Asia Pacific, providing innovative cable solutions to 45 MSOs worldwide.
