Chile’s WOM installs CALLUP’s remote SIM card management system

Christopher Bannister, CEO of WOM

CALLUP, a provider of Value Added Services (VAS) and Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions for the telecom industry, today announced that Chile’s WOM mobile operator (formerly Nextel Chile) has successfully completed the installation of CALLUP’s remote SIM cards management system – SIM OTA.  Since its launch in July 2015, WOM has grown rapidly, achieving record portability in Chile during August.

CALLUP’s SIM OTA platform enables WOM to take complete control of the company’s SIM cards and dongles by remote means. The cost effective platform remotely manages WOM’s entire SIM cards life cycle – from activation of new accounts, through various upgrades and roaming updates, to SIM card cancellation and swap. Using a user-friendly interface that is SIM vendor agnostic, the SIM OTA comprises various features and capabilities, such as secure Remote File Management, Remote Applet Management, Steering of Roaming, Location Tracking, Welcome SMS, and other remote, over the air SIM operations.

“WOM selected CALLUP’s SIM OTA for its superb quality and capabilities, and for CALLUP’s strong reputation,” said Christopher Bannister, CEO of WOM. “CALLUP’s SIM OTA allows us to manage our SIM cards more effectively, helps us in our growth plans and enhances our competitiveness and customer service, saving time, effort and resources”, he added.

A cost-effective solution, CALLUP’s SIM OTA includes a built-in Short Message Service Center (SMSC) to manage all the SIM OTA settings. The platform supports remote management of SIM cards over the air through the web site.

A smart campaign management system enables the mobile operator to update parameters remotely on all of its SIM cards. The system will automatically repeat the update process on SIM cards that could not accept the original update for various reasons, such as devices that were turned off or subscribers who were out of the coverage area.

Using SIM OTA, operators can create dynamic distribution lists based on various criteria, enabling them to update specific groups of cards according to the pre-defined parameters. In addition, SIM OTA enables online management of a single SIM card.
